Did you know that the human body consist of 75-78 percent of water.  However over 75 percent of the population is dehydrated.  The reason may be simple, Americans are drinking more soda than ever before, about 25 percent of all beverages consumed.   Unfortunately, more adults and children are now placing their health more at risk simply by not knowing some simple truths.
Soda has been linked to..
1. Tooth Decay
Soda is acidic and all that acid decays the enamel of your teeth.  Soda can double or triple the rate of tooth decay, especially in the mouth of a developing child.
2. Diabetes
Drinking soda can stress your bodies ability to process sugar. Increased sugar promotes weight gain and weight gain has been linked to increasing your risk for diabetes.
3. Liver Damage
Just like drinking to much alcohol, soda to can damage your liver a disease call cirrhosis.
4. Osteoporosis
Phosphoric acid leaches calcium from bones which can weaken the overall strength of the skeletal system.
5. Hypertension
Drinking heavy amounts of soda are linked to symptoms such as obesity, elevated blood pressure, fasting blood sugar, triglycerides and low levels of HDL which is good cholesterol.  These symptoms increase your chances for heart disease.
6. Heartburn, acid reflux, impaired digestion
Due to the acidity of soda and the carbonation, the carbon dioxide can expand the lining of the stomach causing more reflux.  Also the acidity over a long period of time can cause inflammation of the stomach and duodenal lining.
7. Kidney Stones
Due to the phosphoric acid in soda, this acid changes the urine content that can promote kidney stone formation.  Three 12 ounce soda cans per week may increase this chance by 15 percent.
Unfortunately, most people only find this alarming until its too late, thinking that if I feel great then I have nothing to worry about, this is called being reactive.  All to true once your health is diminished many people will pay anything for a second chance. For many that second chance is long gone.  Waking up tomorrow moving towards a better health choice such as water can add years to your life.  The right amount is half your body weight in ounces.
